Back Pain

After helping 100’s of overweight and obese people recover from crippling back pain…

As well as battling it myself for 10 years, I can you tell you:

There’s probably no more aggravating form of pain.

When an overweight person has back pain?

Sometimes you can’t sit. Sometimes you can’t stand. Sometimes you can’t walk or drive. Or even lie in bed.

The pain is simply wretched.

Doctors call it “wear and tear”. From carrying too much weight around.

A couple of days ago, someone came into our clinic on his hands and knees. It was the only way he could find relief.

He was in tears. The pain radiating down his legs was unbearable.

He actually inspired today’s article. Today, I’m going to tell you what I told him…

Every week in fact, my clinics and programs are a destination for people from all walks of life who suffer from back pain.

The first thing you should appreciate is lower back pain is not a disease. That’s right.

Allow me to be clear about this, because it’s important:

Lower back pain is not a diagnosis.

If you’re seeing a doctor and they’re telling you that’s what you have, you’re not being told the whole truth.

(I have doctors who are in pain visit my clinics, so I know.)

Let’s put it this way: It’s just a symptom. The doctor is only labeling A SYMPTOM.

They’re not telling you what is actually wrong!

Now when they put a label your pain, I totally get how good that makes you feel in the moment.

What happens next?

They prescribe some heavy duty Ibuprofen to calm the inflammation, maybe ship you off to a physical therapist, and then they’re onto the next patient.

And you already know how that works, don’t we?

Let’s face it:

The reality is a lot of doctors fail to fix their back pain patients, especially those who are overweight or obese…

They return repeatedly with the same pain, the same issue, the same cry for help.

The doctor, no matter how well meaning, eventually begins to wonder whether the patient even wants to get better.

Imagine that!

It doesn’t quite occur to them it could be the treatment itself that’s not working.

And that’s because their “back pain” diagnosis just becomes an easy way of sending the patient home happy.

For the record, lower back pain or sciatica are terms describing symptoms of pain that begin in the lumbar portion of your back and possibly extend down through the butt, thigh, and possibly to the foot.

Mostly likely, the tingling or painful sensation going down your leg is being caused upstream in your spine..

  • Irritating, compressing or pinching causing vertebra to hit a nerve…
  • A facet joint at the back of a vertebra which is out of alignment…
  • A strained back muscle spasming and painfully squeezing a nearby nerve or nerve sheathe.

spinal-conditions

Multiply these issues by the number of vertebrae and muscles in the back and…

You can appreciate how much work it can be to accurately diagnose the problem.

Even with new technology such as MRIs.

Which is why most doctors feel they’re doing the best they can given the resources available.

That’s why I prefer to take a more self-directed, holistic approach to addressing back pain.

The most common cause of lower back pain is lumbar disc herniation.

Repeated mechanical stress to a spinal disc can cause the outer layers of the disc to tear and allows the inner substance to herniate, or push its way out of its enclosed space.

(Yes, this can be healed.)

Lumbar disc herniations occur most commonly at the weakest point of the disc, which is the area where the nerve root exits from the spinal canal.

When a disc herniates in this location…

It often directly contacts the nerve root which is exiting through the space, thus activating the nerve and causing the feeling of numbness and pain that sometime radiates into the legs.

There are other conditions which can mimic the effects of a lumbar disc herniation…

Including degenerative disc disease and piriformis syndrome (a condition where the piriformis muscle tightens and compresses the sciatic nerve in your butt area).

So how can we treat lower back pain, sciatica and other disc or spine problems??

Recently, an overweight man named Otha came to us. He was in excruciating pain…

Of course, he’d been to the doctors and asked them for help.

If you have found yourself in a similar situation, you probably already know what they said.

Here’s Otha Hubbard’s inspiring story in his own words.

I think it’ll inspire hope if you’re also suffering…

Otha

I followed your videos and started drinking Celtic sea salt with lime in the mornings.

I also consumed the tea with ginger, turmeric, lemon and honey daily and went on a gluten-free diet.

I started doing the movements you recommended for my low back pain.

It took about 2, maybe 3 months tops… and I’m back-pain free!

The pain I had was unbearable. I’m so happy everyday I wake up without that pain.

I just wanted to tell you that and say thank you for sharing this information.

You helped give me a new lease on life, Ian. You’re awesome, man.

Seriously, if you could understand where I’m coming from you can understand when I say I love you man.

Anyone that can have that big of an impact on a person’s life should be acknowledged.

This is just a real long thank you buddy. Keep up the great work.

I hope everyone in the world that suffers from back pain finds you.

You helped change my life forever. God Bless!

PS – I also lost 30 pounds in those 3 months. Feel better than ever, too.

How did we help Otha? Or maybe more aptly, how did Otha help himself?

In addition to what he ate and drank, he did 8 specific movements…

These 8 movements are totally unlike “the sheets” of exercises you get from chiropractors or doctors.

Like Otha, many people are misinformed about how to get a healthy back.

Instead, we “wake up” certain muscles and restore muscle balance. That’s key.

Then in certain areas of his back, we jump-started pathways so vital oxygen and nutrition could get in and help him heal.

That’s the holistic way to relieve lower back pain.

In Otha’s case, it took just a couple weeks.

A couple weeks and he had a new lease on life.

Yes, there are ways to get out of pain. They don’t require medication, surgery or injections. They don’t require months of physiotherapy.

You just have to restore your body’s natural functional movement and muscle balance and allow it to heal naturally.
